Microsoft Update kb955839 12/12/2008

This is a Microsoft Update that expands the list of regional time zones in Windows. This update will cause problems with WinDSX and WinDSX SQL that are below 3.7.48 and 4.8.20 when you try to edit a "Location" or "System Parameters". These new time zone selections are not needed by any PC running WinDSX.

If you load this update you will not be able to edit a Location or System Parameter from that PC. You can choose not to load this update, you can remove this update, or you can purchase a WinDSX upgrade CD or WinDSX SQL upgrade CD to accommodate this change that Microsoft made to Windows.

Daylight Savings Time Change

A new law went into affect in 2007 regarding Daylight Savings Time. The period referred to as Daylight Savings Time will begin several weeks before and end a week later than it has in past years.

This will require an upgrade to your PCs operating system.
The link below is to Microsoft with details of the upgrades necessary.

WinDSX software Versions 3.6/4.6 and higher should have no problem with the change and should require no upgrades.

DSX and the proper cable

Below is a link to the DSX Cable Specifications. These are the cable specifications for all generations of DSX Hardware. These specified or equivalent cables are the only ones DSX will support. These are the cables tested with the system and approved by UL.   CAT 5 cable should only be used for network connections to the DSX-LAN (M) module. IT SHOULD NEVER be used for panel communications, reader connections, lock wiring, internal controller wiring or anything else. It will not function properly for panel communications. You will have problems if you use the wrong cable!    DSX Cable Specifications
